Creating Bonds, Strengthening Community
The Mackenzie Men Shed Society is dedicated to fostering camaraderie, sharing skills, and promoting well-being among men in the Mackenzie region. Together, we create a welcoming space for connection and growth.
Our group is all about supporting each other whenever and wherever possible. Everything we do is entirely voluntary—there’s no pressure! Contribute in any way you can, when you can, and how you can. Even if you just want to stop by for coffee and a chat, you’re always welcome!
We do have a few simple rules:
No drinking, no drugs, no politics, no religion, and no swearing. Everyone is encouraged to share their voice, and above all, we make sure to have fun!
Membership is open to anyone aged 19 or older. We charge a $25.00 annual membership fee to help cover insurance and maintain our Shed.

What are Men’s Sheds?
A Men’s Shed is a community space where men come together to learn new skills, explore interests, and form meaningful friendships. But it’s much more than that. For many, the transition into retirement or the challenges of aging can bring feelings of isolation and a loss of purpose. This is where Men’s Sheds make a difference. Inspired by the familiar setting of a backyard workshop—where stories are shared, and hands are busy with woodworking or tinkering—a Men’s Shed fosters connection through “shoulder-to-shoulder” communication.
With social isolation and depression often going unnoticed, and many men hesitant to seek support, Men’s Sheds play a crucial role in promoting mental health and building fulfilling relationships. Members come from diverse backgrounds, spanning ages, cultures, and economic statuses, creating a rich and inclusive environment. No two Sheds are exactly alike. Some focus on hands-on activities like building or repairing, while others delve into hobbies like gardening, cooking, or hiking. Many collaborate with local organizations on projects that give back to the community.
What unites all Men’s Sheds is their warm, welcoming atmosphere—a space where men share experiences, celebrate achievements, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

What do we do?
We work together to support each other and provide services to the community.
Currently, we partner with Mackenzie Community Services (MCS) and the Mackenzie Community Arts Council (MCAC).
Through MCS, we receive a “Honey Do List” to assist seniors, individuals with special needs, and those with limited resources. We offer help as long as clients cover the cost of materials, and the work does not interfere with local trades. Each task is assessed to ensure safety and successful completion.
With MCAC, we have a partnership to handle small projects for the facilities and grounds at our location, 9 Laurier Drive.
We also host community workshops and take on various projects to support the area!
