Many of our activities are hands on. Working shoulder to shoulder. Learning by doing! Past activities have been blacksmithing, fly tying, home repairs, bicycle maintenance, and building structures.  We welcome new ideas and activities!

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin

At the Mackenzie Men’s Shed, we pride ourselves on fostering a hands-on learning environment where members can work together, shoulder to shoulder, to develop practical skills. Our activities are centered around learning by doing, which allows participants to gain real-world experience while collaborating in a supportive community. Whether it’s crafting metalworks in blacksmithing, tying intricate flies for fishing, or working on bicycle repairs, each task presents an opportunity for personal growth and teamwork. We believe that this approach not only enhances the learning process but also strengthens relationships between members as they share their expertise and learn from one another.

Throughout the year, we’ve had a diverse range of projects that engage both experienced and beginner makers. Past activities have included everything from simple home repairs, where members tackle everything from fixing leaks to installing shelves, to larger projects such as building community structures. This variety of hands-on experiences means that there’s something for everyone at the Mackenzie Men’s Shed, regardless of skill level. Each project encourages individuals to step out of their comfort zones and challenge themselves, with the safety of a collaborative environment where help is always available.

We encourage you to share your projects with us

We are always open to new ideas and activities that can enrich the experience of our members. Whether you have a skill you want to share, a hobby you’re passionate about, or a project you believe could benefit the community, we encourage you to bring it to the table. The possibilities are endless, and new activities bring fresh energy and perspectives to the shed. The Mackenzie Men’s Shed is not just about working with our hands—it’s about connecting with others, learning, and making a positive impact, both on a personal and community level.
